"The Sigma 18-200mm F3.5-6.3 II DC OS HSM offers users of a DSLR camera with APS-C size sensor one lens that will most likely cover all their needs. In practical use, the lens offers the 35mm equivalent of 27-300mm coverage, making it a highly versatile lens that is enhanced by Sigma´s original Optical Stabilizer function and HSM movement. In the view of TIPA members, the Sigma makes possible the use of this one lens for a wide range of different subjects, offering photographers a compact and highly competent optical tool for landscape, portrait and even wildlife photography. "

Best Expert DSLR Lens
Sigma EX 180mm f/2,8 HSM OS DG Macro f/2,8 180 mm
Pris för Canon
Pris för Nikon
"This lens is the first 180mm image stabilized macro in the world with a reproduction ratio of 1:1 and a maximum aperture of F2.8. It also benefits from the Sigma´s original Optical Stabilizer function that allows a gain of about 4 stops. Three special FLD (”F” Low Dispersion) glass lenses ensure exceptional correction of chromatic aberrations. Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces ”flare” and ghosting, and creates sharp, contrasted images even when fully wide open."

Best Professional DSLR Lens
Canon EF 8-15mm f/4 L USM Fisheye f/4 8-15 mm
"Fisheye lenses allow photographers to shoot spectacular pictures with extreme viewing angles. In combination with a 24x36mm full frame sensor DSLR camera, the Canon EF 8-15mm allows for either full frame or circular fisheye images; with smaller sensors it covers the full frame. Its 180-degree field of view offers exceptional creative capture capabilities. This Canon premium L-series lens features exceptional optical design, quality and durability. The patented SubWavelength Structure Coating (SWC) reduces ghosting effects and flare, while the additional Fluorine coating aids in easy cleaning of the large front element."

Sigma EX 70-200mm f/2,8 APO HSM DG OS f/2,8 70-200 mm
Pris för Canon
Pris för Nikon
"This bright, high quality telephoto zoom lens contains 22 elements (including 3 SLD and 2 FLD glass elements) in 17 groups. This lens covers 24x36mm “full-frame” sensors and has an optical image stabilisation system (OS) that compensates approximately four stops. Its HSM function assures smooth and silent auto focusing. Chromatic aberration is reduced to a minimum and sharpness is at a very high level over the entire focal length range. "

Best Professional Lens
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2,8 L IS II USM f/2,8 70-200 mm
"The new Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM improves the autofocus speed, the optical image stabilisation and the optical quality of its legendary predecessor, which is no easy feat. The EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM has an increased optical quality and features reduced chromatic aberration thanks to one fluorite and five UD lens elements. The newly developed optical image stabilisation now provides up to 4 stops of correction at all focal lengths. What remained was a rugged, dust-proof and moisture resistant design, for use under the most extreme shooting conditions. "

Sigma 17-70mm f/2,8-4 DC HSM OS Macro f/2,8-4 17-70 mm
Pris för Canon
Pris för Nikon
"Designed to be used on APS-C sensor DSLR cameras, this versatile zoom corresponds to a 26-105mm (equivalent). It differs from standard models by its top diaphragm aperture (f/2.8-4), the stabilization OS function and its appreciated autofocus HSM system. This modern, good zoom makes high-end optical features accessible to all. "

Best Professional Lens
Nikon AF-S 70-200mm f/2,8 G IF-ED VR II f/2,8 70-200 mm
"The AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II telephoto zoom lens has been developed for use with digital and film based Nikon SLR cameras. A number of unique Nikon technologies have been adopted for this lens, including the use of seven ED glass elements, Nano Crystal Coat, a vibration reduction (VR II) system that provides camera shake compensation equivalent to increases in shutter speed by four steps, and a Silent Wave Motor (SWM). "

Pris för Nikon
"The 13,8x zoom Sigma 18-250mm f/3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM integrates the exclusive Optical Stabilization system. Four special low dispersion (SLD) glass elements and three aspheric elements ensure very high quality. A minimum focus distance of 45 cm at all focal lengths proved a very appreciated solution. "

Best Professional Lens
Canon EF TS-E 17mm f/4 L f/4 17 mm
"The Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L has the widest view angle of any tilt and shift lens currently available for 35mm SLR cameras due to this it is the professional choice for architectural or landscape photography. The direction of the tilt and shift is independently of each other by mechanical rotation. The TS-E 17mm f/4L includes Canon´s sub-wavelength structure coating (SWC) minimising ghosting and flare caused by internal reflections. "

TIPA Awards 2008
Best Entry Level Lens
Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5,6 IS f/4-5,6 55-250 mm
"This telephoto zoom offers a tremendous range of focal lengths and features an optical image stabilizer, which allows around 4 stops of light to be gained. This asset compensates for the modest aperture of f/4-5.6, and in terms of use, effectively converts a slow lens into a fast one. The optical construction of 12 lenses in 10 groups ensures that sharpness and distortion is well controlled, and on a Canon D-SLR, it offers an equivalent zoom range of 88-400mm. All this and it weighs only 390 grams, so it´s light enough for photographers to carry as a regular part of their shooting kit. "

Best Professional Lens
Nikon AF-S 14-24mm f/2,8 G ED f/2,8 14-24 mm
"This ultra-wide-angle zoom offers an extensive array of shooting opportunities for professionals and photo enthusiasts looking for superb optical quality. The lens construction consists of 14 elements in 11 groups with 2 ED glass elements and 3 aspherical lenses. A newly developed Nano Crystal Coating reduces ghosting and flare between the lens element and the sensor. The lens offers a constant maximum aperture of f/2.8 at all focal lengths – allowing for shooting in low light conditions – and the close focusing distance on offer is just 0.28m/0.9ft. A rounded diaphragm opening with 9 blades makes out-of-focus elements appear more natural (Bokeh effect). The SWM (Silent Wave Motor) allows quiet and fast autofocus, and permits manual override at any time with no delay. "
